Those 12 Cursillistas who had planned on attending the Spring Meeting of Region III this weekend, April 10 and 11, in Ohio find themselves instead sitting at home because 12 is not enough to hold a regional meeting.
Mary K. Fleckenstein reports a Fall Meeting will be held in late September or early October, and she asks folks to keep this in mind when planning activities. Here’s an idea — why not just make the Fall Meeting an activity you plan to attend and mark it in your calendar now. And while you’re planning activities to attend, don’t forget that the National Encounter in Kansas City, KS, will be held July 29, 30 and 31.
Another disappointment – the recent announcement that Men’s Weekend #183 scheduled for mid-April was cancelled for lack of applicants.
It has been decided that dates for upcoming weekends and Team Formation to begin will not be set until applications have been received from a minimum of 12 candidates.
Sooooo, don’t wait for the announcement of a date for the next Men’s Weekend before you send in applications! Rather, continue to send applications to Andi Zientara, Pre-Cursillo Coordinator, so we have enough candidates to schedule a date!
Fourth Day Reunion – Sunday, April 25, 2010
Women’s Weekend #184 was in November, 2009, but we have not had our Fourth Day Reunion because we were trying to have a Men’s Weekend. That, however, has not materialized. We trust that the enthusiasm the new Cursillistas had about their faith at the end of the weekend is still alive. Let’s plan to keep that fire burning. Let’s do whatever it takes to keep the new and the current Cursillistas active in the Movement.
The Fourth Day Reunion will be Sunday, April 25, 2010, 2:00 to 5:00 PM, at the Mt Nazareth Facility. It is extremely important that the new Cursillistas come to this event so that they are encouraged to participate in the Ultreyas and group reunions and become comfortable with all the Cursillistas, new and current. And for that matter, the event may encourage all of the sponsors to stay active.
It is the responsibility of the sponsor to bring or at least encourage the new Cursillista to attend. Please make an effort to contact the sponsors of the new Cursillistas in your Ultreya to come and bring the new Cursillistas to the Fourth Day Reunion.
This is a nice event; we pray, we sing, we give glory to God and we have fun. Please plan on being there! Oh, yes, we also eat, so we ask everyone to bring some kind of finger food. Please distribute this info to your Ultreya.
As we mentioned in a recent email regarding the Fourth Day, we were going to take turns providing the witness speaker for the Fourth Day event. The witness speaker would talk about how he or she was living their Fourth Day, giving inspiration to the new Cursillistas to be active in their Ultreya and group reunions. A 15 minute talk would be great. The order for providing the witness was set by Secretariat as follows:
North Hills – provided speaker Nov 2008
South Hills – provided speaker April 2009
City North WILL PROVIDE THE WITNESS SPEAKER for this upcoming event.
God Bless

ROB’S ORDINATION
Spring is here, summer is right around the corner and before we know it, our own Rob Fleckenstein, son of Wayne and Mary Fleckenstein, will be ordained at St. Paul Cathedral. The time will be at 10 am Saturday, June 26, with a reception following, Rob will celebrate his first Mass at 3 pm Sunday, June 27th, at Incarnation of the Lord Church on Observatory Hill. We’re very excited and proud of Rob and for Rob’s proud parents!
Keep your calendar out because there’s still another date to write down – the Cursillo Picnic, August 29, in Cecil Park near Fr. Stan’s church.
It’s “rumored” that plans are “in the works” to hold a benefit Mystery Dinner Theatre on behalf of Cursillo sometime in October. Andi Zientara will direct. The tentative production chosen is entitled, “Murder on the Oriental Rug”. Sounds like fun!

The cut-off date for applications for the Men’s Weekend is Monday, February 8. Weekend # 183 is scheduled to be held April 15-18. To date, only three men have sent in applications to attend the weekend. We need a minimum of 12 men to participate in order to hold the weekend. Anyone with applications or questions need to contact Andi Zientara, pre-cursillo, at 412-526-8575, or email her at andizi56@verizon.net.
Want to learn more about the Cursillo movement? Then you need to come to Leader’s School from 7:30 t 9 pm on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday nights at the Mt. Nazareth Center. Wayne Fleckenstein is the presider for the evening sessions. The sessions on the 2nd Wednesday of the month are for “newbies” and people who would like to learn to work on teams. The sessions on the 4th Wednesday are regular, leader discussions — catering more to “veteran” Cursillisatas. Contact Wayne by calling 412-678-1723, or email him at fleckenstein@verizon.net.
Once a month, at 10 am the third Saturday of the month, if Jeff Glace (jeffglace@netscape.net) isn’t available, Clyde Werger is teaching a section studying the New American Catechism – one chapter at a time. You can contact Clyde by calling 412-548-0999 or emailing him at cawerger@gmail.com.
Attention Coordinators, we are looking for someone who has technical experience, probably retired and spends time at home in front of the computer, to take over sending out prayer requests by email and call those who don’t have email. The prayer requests generally come in several times a day each day and should be posted quickly after they are received. If you have that skill and a desire to see that prayer requests are sent out to our Cursillo members in a timely fashion, please call Clyde to discuss this in more detail.
The time is arriving quickly when our own Rob Fleckenstein, son of Wayne and Mary Fleckenstein, will be ordained at St. Paul Cathedral. The ordination will begin at 10 am Saturday, June 26th, with a reception following. Rob will celebrate his first Mass at 3 pm Sunday, June 27th, at Incarnation of the Lord Church on Observatory Hill.
In the Works . . .
. . . The National Encounter in Kansas City, KS, will be held July 29, 30 and 31.
. . . With this being the “Year of the Priests”, plans are being made to hold a special Holy Hour for Priests on one upcoming Wednesday evening.
. . . Plans also are in the making to schedule a special Mass for deceased members of Cursillo.

Things are looking good for the Women’s Weekend #184, Nov. 19-22 at Mt. Nazareth. According to Andi Zientara, pre-Cursillo Chairperson, as of today, Monday, October 19, 2009, the maximum number of invitations (22) have been sent out to the women, with 7 confirmed so far.
Since there is only room at Mt. Nazareth to accommodate 22 candidates, no further invitations will be sent out until any of the ladies already on the list reply that she WILL NOT be able to attend. Andi says, “This is why it is most important that the applicants get back to me as soon as possible with their regrets or confirmation.
“This is a wonderful “problem” to have and we have been blessed with the response.”
Any additional applications that are received for the women will be put on a waiting list. Andi says, that she is wide open to receive applications for men…”don’t forget about the fellas”!

Men’s Weekend #183
The Men’s Weekend has been postponed until after the Super Bowl, Feb. 18-21. But don’t let the postponed date prohibit you from sending candidate’s names to Andi. We’d like to have as successful a Men’s Weekend as it looks like we will be having for the women.
